Cefalù is a small town located on the septentrional sicilian coast, approximately to 70 km of Palermo, at the feet of a rock headland around the Cathedrals built by Ruggero II. It is one of the major balneal centers of the province and every year attracts millions of tourists coming from every part of the world. The city belongs to the " Parc of Madonie " and it is included in the club of the "Most beautiful boroughs of Italy, with an association of small Italian centers which are distinguished for large a interest in artistic, historical and cultural affairs. Cefalù, city founded in the VI century before Christ, is known for works of the Greeks who allotted officialy the name of " Kephaloidion " , because of the shape of the headland where it rises. During the time " bizantino" the city, like many others, was transferred, for reasons of safety on the rocca, where they are visible containing remainders of structures such as: the wall merlate, cisterns, furnaces, which goes back to the medieval age. In the years 1063 Norman count Ruggero the conquest, to begin a work of evangelization, with the construction of considerable churches. Most famous, Cathedrals, going back to the years 1131. The Dome in arabo-normanne style is the most important monument of the city. The history of its construction is related to a legend: King Ruggero II directed construction from there to thank God for having saved  him from a storm and to have made him arrive on the beach of Cefalù safely.
